Itch is a cautionary folk tale for the dating-app generation. The film's genesis was conversations with friends about the world of modern dating, wherein meeting a complete stranger has gone from one option to the primary means of meeting someone. There's an inherent trust in this process: you trust them with your time, your stories, your body. But mostly we trust the face they put forward, that aside from some hidden blemishes the version of themselves they show the world is a close enough approximation of their real self. Itch posits a worst case scenario for a young woman placing that trust in someone.

Itch is all about toying with the conventions of genre, how one piece of information can take us from a romance to a thriller, love interest to villain. What excites me about the film is that it's not intended as a passive experience, it exists to be engaged with. Born from an urban legend passed from pub patron to pub patron, we hope the film will be enjoyed the same way, where the less you know going in the better, and as soon as you finish the story you can't wait to tell someone about it.
